Why This Collection Exists

Why Kingdom Legacy Matters

Sermons, books, theological insights, and ministry wisdom should not disappear simply because a leader retires or passes away. The faithful labor of pastors, scholars, and teachers belongs to the generations who follow them.

Kingdom Sermon Architect seeks to preserve those voices responsibly — with theological integrity, cultural reverence, and careful stewardship — so future generations can continue learning from those who served before them.

“Our prayer is that every Kingdom Legacy Collection becomes a living classroom where future generations continue learning from those who faithfully served before us.”

A Life Given to Kingdom Ministry

Pastor · Scholar · Author · Teacher · Kingdom Builder

September 4, 1951 – June 12, 2013

Rev. Dr. Tony Lloyd Lewis was born on September 4, 1951, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. On June 12, 2013, at 9:15 p.m., after a life devoted to ministry, scholarship, leadership, and service, he peacefully entered into eternal rest and went home to be with the Lord.

Dr. Lewis accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and developed a passion for Scripture, theological inquiry, and Christian leadership that would shape the course of his life. In 1975, he formally accepted his call to ministry at Prosperity Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California, under the leadership of Dr. Lloyd C. Blue — launching a pastoral and teaching ministry that would span multiple states, congregations, and generations.

A committed scholar and lifelong learner, Dr. Lewis graduated from W.O. Boston High School before attending the historic Bishop College in Dallas, Texas, where he earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. While in Dallas, he served as Minister of Christian Education under the late Dr. E. K. Bailey, one of the most respected pastors and Bible teachers of his generation. That formative season deepened his commitment to biblical scholarship, discipleship, leadership development, and transformational preaching. He later completed Doctor of Divinity studies through Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 1981.

Throughout his pastoral career, Dr. Lewis faithfully served as Senior Pastor of three congregations:

  • Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church — Portland, Oregon
  • Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church — Pomona, California
  • Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church — Los Angeles, California

Known for thoughtful biblical interpretation, theological depth, pastoral care, and commitment to spiritual formation, Dr. Lewis challenged believers to think deeply about their faith while equipping them to live out the Gospel in practical and transformative ways. Beyond the pulpit he was a prolific author and teacher whose works explored faith, leadership, discipleship, spiritual warfare, Christian maturity, Kingdom living, and community transformation.

Following health challenges, Dr. Lewis retired from pastoral ministry and returned to his native Louisiana, uniting with First Presbyterian Church in Lake Charles, where he served under Pastor Chandler Willis as an Adult Bible Teacher whenever his health permitted. He also served as a director of One Weak Too Strong Ministries alongside his daughter, Kimberly Josephine Lewis-Stidum, continuing his passion for leadership development, spiritual growth, and community impact.

A devoted husband and father, Dr. Lewis was first married to Linda Jackson, from which union was born his daughter Kimberly Josephine Lewis-Stidum; he later married Esther Lewis. His life and ministry spanned Louisiana, Oregon, and California, bringing a rich and diverse perspective to every congregation and community he served.

Today, his legacy lives on through his writings, sermons, teachings, and the countless lives he influenced — preserved and explored through Kingdom Legacy Collections so future generations can learn from the wisdom, faith, scholarship, and Kingdom vision that defined his life and ministry.

The Other Side of God

The Other Side of God — book cover

The Other Side of God is not a book we are selling. It is a manuscript we are teaching. Within Kingdom Legacy Collections it functions as a curriculum — a digital institute built directly from Dr. Lewis's own words.

The work moves across three intertwined arcs: the character of God (His love, His holiness, His judgment), the formation of the leader (David, Saul, the perils of popularity, the cost of obedience), and the life of the Church (its foundation, its mission, its second-mile love).

Each chapter pairs a vivid biblical narrative with a pastoral lesson — the feeding of the five thousand becomes a meditation on stewardship; Ahab and Jezebel become a warning about ungodly alliances; Saul's hollow repentance becomes a mirror for our own self-justification.

Learning Objectives
  • • Trace the character of God across His love, holiness, and refining work.
  • • Examine the formation of Kingdom leaders through David, Saul, and Christ.
  • • Recover a high view of the Church as Christ's blood-bought Body on mission.
  • • Practice reflection, discussion, and pastoral application chapter by chapter.

Editor's Commentary

A Word From Kimberly J. Lewis, M.Div.

"My father did not write The Other Side of God as a book to be admired on a shelf. He wrote it to be wrestled with. Every chapter you open here was first preached, then taught, then written down so that the next generation would not have to learn these lessons the hard way. As his daughter, and as a steward of his theological work, I have prepared these lessons so you can sit under his teaching the same way I did — deliberately, prayerfully, and with a notebook open."

— Kimberly J. Lewis, M.Div., Editor & Steward, Kingdom Legacy Collections
